Yesterday, cyberspace went berserk after my challenge to Reno Omokri to substantiate his claim of being a direct Aide to former President Goodluck Jonathan.

With the help of your resonating loud voices, Reno succumbed, for the first in his public communications history, to release a redacted copy of what he claimed to be his Appointment Letter.

My challenge to Reno didn’t include the supply of his Monthly Payslip. It was simply a request for a clean copy of his Appointment Letter. But in his rather overzealous bid to grandstand as he often does, he ended up supplying us with what is now a material evidence in a possible case against him for financial fraud against the Federal Government of Nigeria.

Going by Reno’s own release, his alleged Appointment Letter is for the position of Special Assistant to the President. However, the payment slip he released showed that he earned the salary of a Senior Special Assistant.

Reno’s letter clearly stated he was Special Assistant and not Senior Special Assistant. Going by the rule of expressio unios exclusio alterius, Reno cannot claim to be Senior Special Assistant when his letter stated clearly that he was Special Assistant. They are not and cannot be the same.

To this end, Reno’s attention is hereby drawn to this monumental misnomer. A clear explanation for the discrepancy is hereby demanded, failing which good citizens of our country shall be left with no other choice but to proceed with a formal complaint to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission for investigation and, if liable, effective prosecution and refund of misappropriated funds – St frankyn Oraye
